Love Crashing Down On Me – Original Song

Love Crashing Down On Me is a song that I wrote about falling in love with the beach, while falling in love with a girl at the beach.  From the warm sunshine, and the sound of crashing waves; to the sound of the seagulls in the sky.  The lure of the beach is one that easily captures our hearts and affection.

I started writing “Love Crashing Down On Me” in March of 2017.  I recorded most of the ideas for the verses, chorus, and bridge into the voice memo App on my iPhone a few months later in May.  I was sitting in my living room with nothing more than a guitar, when the idea for this song came to me.  I had been listening to Jack Johnson, and admired the craftsmanship of his songs and the stories in his lyrics.  But mostly, I was thinking about spending the weekend at the beach.

After I finished writing the song, I bought a ukulele, knowing that when it came time to record it, I wanted to have plenty of ukulele in the intro.  I spent several days learning the chords on the ukulele and then headed down to Raleigh to record it.  Above is the lyric video that I made for the song. The photo/backdrop in the video is a picture that I took several years ago.  I’ve include the lyrics down below as well.  Thanks for listening!  Enjoy!

Love Crashing Down On Me by Mark Salyers

Verse 1

The sunshine is shining and your love’s crashing down on me.

And I’m here standing on the edge of the deep blue sea:  of love.

 Chorus 1

Your smile, your face, your warm embrace, it takes me back to that special place:

Where the sunshine is shining and your love’s crashing down on me.

 Verse 2

It’s ten a.m., and you’re calling.

It’s a brand new day and we’re still falling:  in love.

 Chorus 2

Your smile, your face, your warm embrace, it takes me back to that special place.

Where the sunshine is shining and your love’s crashing down on me.

 Bridge

We fell in love by the ocean – in a summer breeze of emotion.

We fell in love out on the strand.  And now life’s good here in the sand.

 Verse 3

Where the sunshine is shining and your love’s crashing down on me.

And we’re here standing on the edge of the deep blue see: of love.

 Chorus 3

Your smile, your face, your warm embrace, it takes me back to that special place.

Where the sunshine is shining and your love is crashing down on me.

Where the sunshine is shining and your love is crashing down on me.

 Chorus 4

Your smile, your face, your warm embrace, it takes me back to that special place.

Where the sunshine is shining and your love is crashing down on me.

Where the sunshine is shining and your love is crashing down on me.

Where the sunshine is shining and your love is crashing down on me.
